An atlas of the Latin American economy
Economía Hoy enters the region country by country, and reads it straight — the structure beneath the headline, in English, for an international reader.
We are an independent digest of the Latin American economy: markets, regional economies, trade and the analysis that ties them together. We cover real institutions, markets and data in the third person. We are not a bank, a ministry, an official statistics body, or any of the outlets that share the name.
What we do
The region is treated as an ongoing subject, not a news wire. We write about what each economy runs on, what it sells and to whom, and the durable patterns — commodity cycles, inequality, informality, the long argument with inflation — that outlast any single administration. Where we cite numbers, they are structural or clearly historical: order-of-magnitude guides to how the region is built, not a live ticker.
How to read us
The Atlas is the way in. Pick an economy and the dossier reframes around it — its capital and currency, what it exports, the bloc it sits in — and links through to the analysis written about it. Around the Atlas sit five sections: Markets, Regional Economies, Trade, Analysis and Data.
Independent, and evergreen
Independent analysis has to be paid for, and we name the institutions and readers who support it plainly — kept at arm's length from the work. We put no dates on our own publishing: the economics of a region changes on a longer clock than the news cycle admits, and we write for that clock.
